1UP recently spoke with producers Yoshio Sakamoto (from Nintendo) and Yusuke Hayashi (Tecmo's Team
Ninja) on the nature of this unusual collaborative effort between two very different development
teams, the challenges of updating the Metroid legacy, and the science of creating an NES-style game
in 3D.

Leave it to Nintendo to interrupt a party. The company is sitting out Gamescom, but in true "market
disruption" fashion, it chose to drop a slew of release dates for its anticipated fall line-up
today. Included in the announcement were some of the titles that grabbed headlines during E3, like
Kirby's Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Nintendo has released the T.V. ad for Metroid: Other M, which is one of the company's better
commercials. It features live acting by Samus as well as some gameplay.

Nintendo have released yet another trailer, but this time, rather than showing off gameplay or
story, it is Samus narrating, from her perspective, the events of earlier Metroid games as well as
the introduction of Metroid: Other M. It's fairly interesting for anyone who is a Metroid nut, and
will certainly serve to increase your excitement!

Mario Kart 64 has a game over screen. That is one fact that many gamers are not aware of. In order
to get the "game over screen", you have to be placed on 4th or 8th at the end of the grand prix
race. This has to be the most missed game over screen in the history of Nintendo.

The story of Metroid: Other M has been one of sheer cynicism and initial sceptisicm, followed by
gradually growing cautious optimism, until now, finally, as the release of the game is less than a
month away, unbriddled anticipation.

Nintendo has announced that sales of the Wii in the U.S. have surpassed 30 million units, setting a
new record for the milestone. The Wii reached the number after only 45 months, a full 15 months
quicker than the next best-selling console on record, the PlayStation 2.

The following eight horrors are the Big N’s failed attempts at adding “color” to games.
Let’s just say it would be best if Nintendo left things black and white.

Donkey Kong plays Donkey Kong while Donkey Kong Jr. watches. OK, maybe he's not playing DK, but it's
just as good. The story involves a kid, a couple of real gorillas at the San Francisco Zoo and a
happy ending.

Every husband or boyfriend would gladly do the weekly food march for his woman if all grocery stores
had this.
