Growing up as a male in the 1980s, there was one thing that was definitely a staple of our viewing
– the Action Movie. Did they kick ass? HELL YES. Were they formulaic? Totally. As a connoisseur of
the 80s action movie, I’ve dissected and performed an autopsy to find out what makes the 80s movie
tick.

This year, SXSW's film portion runs March 12-20, and features movies from a host of categories,
including headliners, spotlight premieres, films from the Lone Star state, the controversial
midnighters (which tend to feature adult-themed topics) and a range of shorts, from live-action to
animation.

Gervais: "I feel like someone's put crack in my drink! What is going on? This is the weirdest show
I've ever been on."

There is a new and troubling movie trend emerging…that of releasing multiple versions of a movie
both on DVD and in the theater.

It's a lousy time to be a record label. Profits are tanking, bands are angry--OK Go just ditched
EMI--and YouTube and BitTorrent have changed the game. Still, some labels are transforming
themselves to help musicians in the digital age.

Oprah Winfrey called Sidibe a "true American Cinderella on the threshold of a brilliant new career."
The next day, Howard Stern attacked Sidibe, calling her the "most enormous, fat black chick I've
ever seen," and said Winfrey is a liar for "telling an enormous woman the size of a planet that
she's going to have a career." Who's right?

From what we can tell, favorably comparing your popularity to Jesus, being sued by your own record
company and marrying your 13-year-old cousin are all less damaging than what the Dixie Chicks once
did: speaking out against what would turn out to be one of the most unpopular presidents in U.S.
history.

Apparently, there's been a rash of salmonella cases in young girls, because they decided to borrow a
page from The Princess and the Frog and lock lips with an amphibian. Only he didn't turn into a
prince, he just made them violently ill for a few days. So, this begs the question, has a movie ever
inspired you to do something stupid?

The Wizard of Oz is to be remade for the 21st century, with 3-D special effects and a very modern
Dorothy. Inspired by the box office success of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, executives at
Warner Bros are pressing ahead with an update of the childhood classic. The studio is weighing up two
rival projects which take Frank Baum's original story

Both George Clooney and Jeff Bridges acted like the Best Actor Oscar they were battling for last
Sunday wasn't a big deal. Well, here's visual evidence that it was indeed a ginormous effin' deal
for both actors.
